History

The roots of Atlantic Cat date back to the 1920s and 1930s when entrepreneurs of the day invested in the business of supplying Caterpillar products to the Maritime provinces. The businesses grew and evolved as Caterpillar products advanced and the product offering increased to serve many industries in the area including mining, forestry, agriculture, road building and maintenance, general construction, ship building, and electrical power generation. The family owned businesses of the day are still part of a family owned business - the Hewitt Group - with over 2,200 employees operating from 45 locations in Quebec, Ontario, Western Labrador and the Maritimes.
